Vineyard beginnings

October 2015 begins a journey of mine in which a piece of Ramona land will became a working vineyard. I was introduced to Charlie and Jess Kohler who own La Finquita Vineyards and Winery in Ramona though my sister. They are all alumni of USD. I went to visit their place back in August of 2015. They were very helpful in suggesting I visit Sharon Quisenberry of Coldwell Banker ranch properties. We did meet and after searching the Ramona area we discovered the perfect piece of land..and old dairy farm owned by Mr. The family was selling parcels and I chose "E". This is a generous 8.35 acre piece with minimal vegetation gently sloped, facing West, and abutting Old Julian Highway. In the past 1 year I have had 6 acres ripped, a perimeter road graded , and a well drilled. In addition I have installed new fencing posts and an entrance. I have a new friend Cheri Choy who is working on plans to install the necessary vineyard equipment as part of her class project. Along the way I have met many great new friends who own an operated vineyards: Grant James, Turtle Rock, Woof and Rose, Ramona Ranch to name a few. Pictured here is the raw land from Google Earth maps.
